How to restore the closed tab/tabs in Google chrome? It was the question I asked myself.
A few days before, I searched for virtualization software in Google Chrome. Since I found various good articles about the topic, I opened each of those articles in a separate tab.
While I was filtering the articles, accidently the google chrome was closed. Then, I re-opened Chrome and restored the closed tabs with a few clicks.
In this session, I will write on how to restore the closed tab individually in google chrome, and how to set the chrome to restore the previous browsing session entirely after re-opening it.
How to restore the recently closed tab in Google Chrome
In the first section, let’s imagine you have opened multiple tabs in Chrome. You unintentionally click on the close icon (+), and the tab closes. In this case, you can use the Keyboard shortcuts to restore the recently closed tab.
Press the Control + Shift + T buttons to easily restore the recently closed tab in Chrome. This method works on the Windows Operating system.
Alternatively, if the shortcut does not work, you can restore the closed tabs through Chrome’s history. To bring the closed tab back through the search history, follow the below three-step:
- Open the Chrome Menu by clicking on the three-dot icon at the top-right side.
- From the Chrome Menu, hover your mouse /click on the History option.

Set your Chrome to restore the tabs automatically after restart
Suppose you have opened multiple tabs in your Chrome. Your office hours is finished while your work is not finished yet. If you shut down your computer, all the researches and good articles you have found on Google will be gone.
In such cases, you can set your Chrome to restore all the previous session tabs automatically after you re-open your Chrome the next day.
To do that, follow the below steps:
- Open the Chrome Menu by clicking on the three-dot icon at the up-right corner of Chrome.
- From the Menu, click on the Settings
- Click on the On Startup option on the left-side column.
- Select Continue where you left off option.
That is it! You set your Chrome to restore all the previous section tabs automatically after your re-opened your Chrome.
